Abstract
Abstract— A survey of a 10 per cent sample of general practitioners in Queensland showed that topical fluoride therapy was still widely practised and accepted in Queensland and believed by most dentists to be economically worthwhile. In a State where less than five per cent of the population has access to a fluoridated water supply, all of the dentists in the sample advocated the use of fluoride tablets by young children. Since there was an apparent lack of preparedness by most of the dentists to manage acute fluoride poisoning resulting from excessive ingestion of fluoride through these sources, a schedule of treatment has been recorded.
