The Use of Exploration Geo-Science Data in the Planning and Execution of Site Investigations for Offshore Development Facilities

Abstract

Prior to development of an offshore hydrocarbon field large sums are spent by Operating Companies on the acquisition and processing of exploration geo-science data. These data, augmented by other publicly available data, can be cost-effectively integrated and reviewed to aid field develop­ment conceptual design, selection of suitable sites for development facilities and planning of detailed, site-specific, geotechnical and geophysical site investigations.
