Abstract

SummaryEthyl Chloride spray is used to reduce pain caused by injections or minor surgical procedures and for the temporary relief of minor sports injuries. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing pain during brief procedures such as venepuncture and immunisation and also in management of pain from minor trauma in the emergency department. Its use as treatment for acute postoperative pain has not been described before and we demonstrate its successful use in the management of postoperative pain following laparoscopic sterilisation.
