Abstract

The electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) technique can be a useful method for measuring the adsorption of surfactant and estimating the transition from monolayer to multilayer coverage critical micelle at metal–liquid interfaces if the effects of temperature and viscosity on frequency change are appropriately compensated. Surface tension and EQCM measurements can be useful tools for the determination of CMC and surfactant coverage values. This paper discusses and compares the use of EQCM and surface tension measurements for investigating surfactant adsorption.
