Abstract

This paper presents an applied research about the influence of electrical steel sheets on single-phase induction machine (SPIM). The model motors researched in this paper are permanent-split capacitor induction motors operating in two-phase asymmetrical condition. Based on theoretical analysis, an improved iron loss test method for SPIMs is proposed. In addition, this method is compared with conventional approach through experimental research. Besides, the effects of core materials on the performance of SPIMs are investigated by manufacturing and testing several motors with different kinds of non-oriented electrical steel sheets.
