Abstract

Discusses the impact of computer technology on the optical design of increasingly complex and sophisticated lens systems. Amongst the techniques discussed are transverse error curve analysis and computerised optimisation. Several examples are presented including multiconfiguration optimisation, Fresnel lenses systems design and diffractive optical element design
