Abstract
ABSTRACT Timely and reliable information is essential for managing the oil and gas Exploration and Production business. Information on the status and progress of development and production operations is vital for many disciplines in the organisation. Computer Applications for Operations (CAO) are computerised information systems which support the planning and management of oil and gas field development and operations. These systems enable close monitoring, timely control and realistic evaluation and planning of operations. They stimulate "managing during the event" instead of "thereafter".
