Abstract

Procedures have been developed for the indirect measurement of the amount of carbon absorbed in a 14C counting mixture in order to increase precision of 14C specific activity determinations. The technique involves use of a commercially available CO 2 absorber and liquid scintillation counters employed with a high energy γ source as an nexternal standard quench monitor to generate a Compton-edge dependent H-number.
