Abstract
Chemical analogues may be useful in exotoxico- logical studies by providing the possibility of measuring the dispersal and accumulation of xenobiotics in ecosystems without the attendant problems of toxicity. 2 Studies on 152Eu show that it is a good analogue for the radiotoxic 241Am in both marine crabs and freshwater crayfish. 3 The accumulation of both the lanthanide and the actinide show that their environmental distribu- tion is dictated by surface adsorption onto exo- skeletons and cellular deposits.
