Abstract
Bioactive glass (BAG) S53P4 is a bone and soft tissue bonding implant material, that has been used in reconstruction of defects of facial bones, in treatment of middle ear and dental-jaw regions and in operative treatment of frontal sinusitis and atrophic rhinitis. BAG S53P4 has showed antibacterial effects when used as a paste, and in the form of granules or discs it does not favour adhesion of nasal/pharyngeal pathogens, such as Klebsiella ozaenae, Haemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
