Abstract

A preliminary study was conducted to assess the effect of the use of acrylic cement in osteosynthesis by inducing comminution, and thereby producing instability in the hind limbs of rabbits, and then encasing them by applying the cement at the fracture sites. A quantitative and a qualitative evaluation were attempted with radiology, planimetric studies, volume determination, and histological studies. The results of this study suggest that the use of acrylic cement in encasement osteosynthesis remains a distinct feasibility
