Abstract

Abstract Thirty-six male college students served as subjects in a study to determine the reliability of isometric strength assessment of the right elbow flexor muscles by means of an intraclass correlation technique and to estimate reliability one might obtain under similar conditions with different combinations of days and trials. An analysis of variance treatment by subjects design was used to obtain the estimates of error necessary for calculation of the estimate of reliability. Some consideration was given to the effect of degrees of freedom on negative estimates of variance.
