Abstract
Abstract The objective of the project is to develop and implement the information technology infrastructure and tools for a routeing planning information system. The core system has been constructed and has been in operation for more than one and a half years. The carrier of the installation is a private railway company operation, responsible for all rail transportation among a steel producer's numerous manufacturing facilities located in and around the city of Dortmund. The study serves as a test bed for the integration of the various components of the system. The fully integrated system will be used for the identification, control and monitoring of stationary or moving objects.
