Abstract
ABSTRACT A new method for generating adaptive grids is presented. The transformation of a general nonlinear heat equation to arbitrary moving coordinates is derived. Typical aspects of solving equations in moving grids are discussed, in particular the conservation of mass as well as volume. A new method for constructing discretizations to conservation equations is presented, and applied to the nonlinear heat equation.
