Abstract

Incubation of human red cells with 99 m-Tc and subsequent addition of SnCl2 resulted in stable red cell labeling. Simultaneous tagging of the same or another red cell specimen by51Cr and calculation of the red cell volume from both isotopes gave almost identical results. The 99m-Tc-technique may become the method of choice for red cell volume determination.
