Abstract

A facility for (n,p)-reaction studies being built at the upgraded Gustaf Werner cyclotron of the The Svedberg Laboratory, Uppsala, Sweden, is presented. Well-collimated, monoenergetic neutron beams will be used with a fairly long distance between the neutron source and the (n,p) sample to reduce background radiation. The (n,p) magnetic spectrometer has large angular and momentum acceptance. Initially, studies of isovector monopole and Gamow–Teller giant resonances are planned.
