Abstract

The escape of a gas through a plane slit into a vacuum is considered and the flow in the region where it can be represented by a self-similar solution to the corresponding gas-dynamic system is considered. The asymptotic forms in the neighbourhood of singular flow surfaces are investigated. In particular, the deviation of the free surface from its analogue in the Prandtl-Mayer type solution is determined.
