Abstract

The dilute solution properties of polysulphone A have been investigated by viscometry and light scattering; the Mark-Houwink expression in dimethylformamide at 25° is [η](cm 3 g −1) = 0·033 M w 0·64 . The values of the unperturbed dimensions, solvent-polymer interaction parameters and conformational parameter have been computed by applying the SFB theory. The conformational parameter is close to unity, in agreement with results for other polymers containing paraphenylene linkages in the main chain.
