Abstract

This year the organizers of the Annual Meeting decided to take a critical look at the so called liberal cosmopolitan tradition, which embraces a progressive commitment to global peace, the rule of law in international affairs, multilateralism, free trade and liberalism. My talk will address this tradition by exploring the use of cyberspace to promote social justice in a neoliberal world. By neoliberalism I mean a paradigm that envisions an increasingly globalized, market-based economy whose growth is driven primarily by private capital and whose stability is ensured by means of the rule of law and democratization. In one way or another, my presentation will touch upon the four thematic categories of the Annual Meeting: violence, money, power and culture.
