The United States Foreign Policy and the UN: Engaging the Benefits of Supranational Framework

Abstract

This paper examines United States role in international politics and law and confronts the theoretical deflections in the US dominance theory. This work explored the parallel between dominance and a foreign policy well aware of the constraints which international laws place on states behaviour. This work engages the benefits which the US foreign policy derives from existing supranational institutions as effective tool of her foreign policy. Although dominance in international relation is a reflection of state’s power, the US interventionist policies around the world suggest service for the UN goals.This paper strongly advances that any supra-national entity both states or organizations will constantly clash with states’ appetite for sovereignty and that is where lies the antagonism for state foreign policy with taste for universal application.
