Abstract

The unified theory of nuclear reactions is employed to derive general expressions which: (i) are valid in the presence of direct interactions as well as well separated or overlapping compound nuclear resonances; (ii) explicitly satisfy the requirements of unitarity; (iii) involve the minimal number of real parameters.
