Abstract
This two-volume text explores an aspect of plastic surgery that is seldom dealt with in textbooks, journal articles, or meetings. Historically, surgeons have been hesitant to talk about their "complications" or "mistakes." This is not only a text about complications, since unfavorable results may be produced by other factors and not all complications lead to unfavorable results. This is a true landmark as an attempt to improve the results of plastic surgery. The format is similar to the first edition, with internationally known experts contributing chapters. In the decade or so that has passed since the first printing, numerous events have occurred in plastic surgery. Applications of microsurgery, craniofacial surgery, and musculocutaneous flaps are commonplace. These areas, as well as many others, are addressed.
