Abstract

This simulation had its origins in the response to a number of game design workshop sessions which the presenters ran as in-service days for teachers and lecturers. The simulation was conceived as an exercise designed to give the participants empathy with those in the population who are unemployed or have been made redundant. The embryonic simulation is described in outline. The participants in the session were asked to make comments on the experience and to offer suggestions for the final version of the exercise. The response of the participants is discussed.
