Abstract

AbstractA new colour space, named ULAB, is developed. It is derived from the CIELAB colour space and can be converted to and from CIELAB. Unlike modified CIELAB colour‐difference formulae, ULAB incorporates corrections for lightness, chroma, and hue differences into its colour coordinates. For the small magnitude colour difference data, it shows the performance as good as more complicated formulae such as CIEDE2000. ULAB shows another chance of developing a colour space approximately more uniform than CIELAB. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Col Res Appl, 40, 17–29, 2015
