Abstract

■ The 1962 amendments te the Social Security Act established, as national policy, broad new goals for public welfare and new responsibilities for social work. To move forward toward these goals, both the administration of public welfare and the social work profession must develop new capabilities. More professional social workers are needed, as well as new and more effective techniques of service to welfare clients and administrative methods appropriate to these new responsibilities. ■
