Abstract

The turbulent Prandtl number (PrT) model for the temperature field analysis in rod bundle subchannels is proposed based on the experimental data. The proposed turbulent Prandtl number is a function of the position and has the characteristic of an anisotropy which may not be found in simple geometries such as circular tubes and flat plates. Also, the proposed turbulent Prandtl number is modeled by considering the effects of the pitch to diameter (P/D) and the molecular Prandtl number (Pr). The turbulent temperature field is analyzed by a detailed analysis code. The Nusselt numbers (Nu) obtained by the new model are compared with those obtained by the well-known experimental correlations. The new turbulent Prandtl number model can predict the experimental data more accurately than the previous turbulent Prandtl number model.
