Abstract

In this article I re-examine the Kevala Narasimha Temple Inscription of Ramtek and discuss some new conjectures and interpretations. These allow us to form a more precise idea of the original object of this Vakataka inscription. The results are applied to the material remains on the Ramagiri. The article shows that there is a perfect match between the opening verse of the inscription and the Trivikrama sculpture preserved in situ amidst the temple ruins to the north-east of the Narasimha temple. The article argues that the inscription found in the Kevala Narasimha Temple on the Ramagiri originally came from the Trivikrama Temple.
