I mention this only because about two weeks after this day I found myself the sole passenger on an Indian freighter headed for Bombay, the first, according to the English captain of the ship, to sail under the flag of the new India. Arrangements for my transportation had been uncertain for some time until one day I, suddenly, received a telephone call from my teacher, Professor W. Norman Brown, instructing me to go to the docks in Philadelphia, where my transportation was waiting for me.
