Abstract

The tension zone in Wisconsin, which is the ecotone between two floristic provinces, averages about 25 miles in width and traverses the state in a generally northwest to southeast direction. The correlations between the distributions of 78 species of treehoppers and this zone are reported. In the case of 15 of these the limits of distribution correspond closely to the tension zone; the other 63, however, show little or no such correlation.
