Abstract
The Orthofix dynamic axial external fixation device was used in 11 pediatric patients for acute trauma management of fractures of seven femurs and six tibias and fibulas. All the fractures healed except one, a devascularized limb that had to be amputated. Complications were minimal, with no pin tract infections or refractures. The Orthofix dynamic external fixator is a safe, easily applied, adjustable, well-tolerated tool for the orthopaedist dealing with trauma injuries in children.
