Abstract

The term “Virginity” has been defined in two senses: being ‘chaste’1, that is, not having had sexual intercourse; and the other definition pertaining to the presence of hymen-a piece of tissue surrounding the vagina. For a thin, (barely 1mm thick)1 piece of tissue, a lot of faith is vested in the hymen. While there is a plethora of known methods currently in practice to test the virginity of a woman, there might be more, existing in remote communities that we are yet unaware of. This article deals with the credibility of virginity testing and the impact it has on the examinee.
