Abstract

1. 1) Biological transmission of SFV by Ae. aegypti between baby mice was obtained daily from the 2nd to 15th day after the mosquito's infecting feed, and occasionally thereafter until at least the 46th day. Probing only, or engorgement, of a single mosquito was sufficient on some occasions to effect transmission. 2. 2) Mechanical transmission was obtained by interrupting mosquitoes during an infecting feed, and also by re-feeding after 24 hours. Mechanical transmission possibly continues for several days under certain conditions.
