Abstract

The review article is devoted to the book by Czesław Deptuła entitled Historical beginnings in Polish medieval historiography. On the history of ideas, images and narratives. The publication is a selection of texts by Professor Czesław Deptuła from 1968-2006, supplemented with appendixes. The research undertaken by the author of the monograph revolves around 1) the history of the Polish Church in the 10th-13th centuries, 2) the history of medieval religiousness in Poland (studies of selected religious cults, primarily the cults of Polish patrons and some aspects of the Christianization of the Polish society in the early Middle Ages; 3) the history of Polish mediaeval historiography (mainly the history of ideas, images and narratives).
