Abstract

Some nicotinic acid derivatives have been determined chromatographically in the aqueous humour and in the lenses of normal human and ox eyes and eyes with cataract. In these two tissues transmethylation and formation of nicotinic acid and its derivatives from tryptophan occur regularly in normal eyes. In eyes with cataract, transmethylation does not occur and nicotinic acid is not formed from tryptophan.
