Abstract
The transition to adulthood represents a challenge for the young population. This process can be more difficult for young people with no family to rely on. The diversity of profiles of young people in residential foster care in Spain means that the model of intervention and preparation for emancipation is beginning to be rethought. The aim of this chapter is to find out what determinants are present in the success processes of these young people. To this end, some recent interventions and research in the Spanish context have been analyzed. It has been observed that social support and stability increase the subjective well-being of young people in residential foster care. Strengthening self-confidence and the ability to relate adequately with others are fundamental for achieving emancipation and facing adult life successfully.
