Abstract

Transient ceiling flows induced by growing rack storage fire were investigated in the period where the convective heat release rates produced by these fires had a power-law dependence on time to the third power. Empirical correlations for the ,maximum excess gas temperature, maximum gas velocity, temperature profile depth, and velocity profile depth of the transient ceiling flow were established in terms of a normalized convective heat release rate of the fire and a normalized radial distance from the fire axis.
