Abstract
General considerations regarding the transfer of DC beans of ions into storage rings and electromagnetic traps are presented. A system is described which has achieved 50% injection efficiency from a pulsed ion gun into an RFQ trap. Schemes are proposed for adapting this system to the efficient injection of ISOL beams into traps and for injecting the extracted beam of an ion storage ring into a trap.
