Abstract
The convergence of heterogeneous networks is the trend of future network development. However, many “bottlenecks” exit in the convergence such as high delay, high energy consumption, low communication rate, etc. In order to overcome these “bottlenecks” and to satisfy the requirements of heterogeneous network convergence, handoff decision-making for heterogeneous network becomes necessary. For the complexion of benefit attributes, cost attributes and fuzzy attributes existing at the same time, the methods introduced before can not solve the problem perfectly. In this paper, first, a concept of connection numbers is introduced here in order to figure the fuzzy attributes. Then, a new method of deciding the attribute weighs different from the method introduced before is introduced to use the concept of connection numbers. Importantly, an improved TOPSIS algorithm based on connection numbers is introduced for decision-making among heterogeneous networks. At last, a simulation is introduced to testify this method and to compare it with other methods. Simulation results show the new methods introduced in this paper can assembler much more comprehensive information for decision-making and can improve the accuracy of access selection for heterogeneous networks obviously, so this method for decision-making is much more reliable.
