Abstract

Variations in assertive response topography and in the type and frequency of reported self-statements were studied in positive and negative assertion situations, with male and female, high and low assertive normal adults. Significant differences in behavior were found between high and low assertive groups, men and women, and positive and negative situations. Self-statements and assertive behavior were significantly correlated in positive situations, but not in negative assertion situations.
