Abstract
[Describing the aims and methods of the Social Work and Research Centre at Tilonia village in Rajasthan, India, Mr. Roy says that his project is very different from any other official or non-official agency for integrated rural development. The Tilonia movement has spread to half a dozen States, and expects further to extend operations this year, because, apart from providing physical facilities, expert advice and financial assistance, it is firmly identified with people who live below the poverty line. It champions their cause, exposes institutional exploitation and makes effective use of the under privileged peasant's native wisdom. In the process, says Mr. Roy, who is the Centre's founder-director, they are building up an alternative leadership of the future by investing in the development of people as against an impersonal infrastructure.]
