Abstract
The three-photon absorption spectrum of iodine has been recorded under high resolution, using both a single tunable dye laser (3P1C) and independently tunable pump and probe lasers (3P2C). Rotational analysis of the 3P2C spectrum confirms the presence of the F′(0 u +) state and gives improved spectroscopic constants. A separate set of vibrational levels in the 51500–54700 cm −1 energy region, with a spacing of 78 cm −1, has also been identified.
