Abstract

THE appointment of Charles A. Thomas, executive vice president of Monsanto Chemical Co., as chairman of an Advisory Committee on Scientific Manpower to Stuart Symington, chairman of the National Security Resources Board, is an action that will meet with widespread approval. As chairman of the Board of Directors of the AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY, Dr. Thomas has exhibited great leadership in the scientific manpower problem. As chairman of the Advisory Committee just created, he is in a unique position to present effectively convincing proof of the need for utilizing properly the special skills of scientists and technologists in partial or complete mobilization.
