Abstract

We propose a mixed analytical and numerical method as a practical means of solving the perturbation equations based on Vinti's intermediate orbit. Hori's averaging method is used to define mean elements σ ∗ and short-period perturbations Δσ s . Δσ s accurate to the third-orbit, are found by Fourier analysis, and dσ∗/dt, accurate to the fourth order, from numerical averaging. The present procedure can be used to reduce satellite laser observations with a high precision.
