Abstract

This research aims to identify thinking dependent on both sides of the brain and its relationship to the habits of mind among students of the biological fifth grade in Mosul city, in order to verify the aim of the research using (five) null hypotheses, and the researcher used the relational descriptive approach, and the study sample consisted of (331) students of the fifth grade of the biological for the academic year (2020-2021). As the sample was intentionally chosen from the research community in secondary schools in the city center of Mosul, and to achieve the objective of the research and its hypotheses, the researcher used the following tools: 1 - The scale of thinking on both sides of the brain that the researcher adopted from the study of (Al-Dulaimi, 2005). 2 - The habits test of the mind developed by the researcher from (Afaneh, 2013). And after the researcher ensured the validity and reliability of the tools and presented them to a group of experts that were ready for application, the researcher applied The tools electronically on the sample on (2-2-2021) and the application ended on (3-14-2021) and after collecting the data and analyzing it statistically, the results revealed. The following: 1 - The dominant thinking pattern among female students in the fifth biological grade is the left one with a percentage of (49.939%) and a frequency of (165) students, followed by the right thinking pattern with a percentage of (44.936%) and a frequency of (148) students, and finally (5.123%), and a frequency of (17) students for those who used integrated thinking pattern. 2 - There is no statistically significant difference from the biological performance of fifth-grade students on the habits of mind test and the hypothetical mean of the test. 3 - The presence of significant differences from the three groups according to the patterns of thinking and the test of the habits of the mind, where the left type was superior on the right type in the test of the habits of the mind the right style and the left pattern were superior on the integrated pattern in the test of the habits of the mind.
