Abstract

The thermalization of 241Am/Be-neutrons in paraffin has been studied with the aid of the average neutron activation cross-section of the 115In(n,γ) 116In-reaction. The average neutron activation cross-sections of the above-mentioned reaction as a function of the thickness of the paraffin layer placed between the Am/Be-neutron source and an In-target have been utilized. Cadmium and silver filters have been used between the neutron source and the target to explain the portions of the low-energy neutrons in the 241Am/Be-neutron spectrum.
