Abstract

The temperature profile for an N- component mixture of particles in a fluid flowing through a heated tube has been evaluated using a numerical method for the fluid and an analytical solution for the particles. The results for the time-at-temperature of the particles depend on the drift-flux parameters, which quantify the local slip. In particular, the more slip the better the heat transfer and the shorter the heat exchanger required for aseptic food processing. Two diagrams are given, which cover all parameters of interest for laminar flow.
