Abstract

The thermal neutron capture cross section and resonance capture integral of Pa233 to form the 1.2-minute and 6.7-hour isomeric states of Pa234 have been measured using activation methods. The results are as follows:[Formula: see text]Irradiations made with different thicknesses of cadmium cover show the absence of a major resonance for the formation of the 6.7-hour state in the region of the cadmium cutoff. The results are compared with earlier values and some reasons for discrepancies have been studied experimentally.
