Abstract

BS>The thermal decomposition of unirradiated Li and Na permanganates, and Li, Na, and Cs permangarates preirradiated by gamma rays, was investigated. A comparative study of the magnitude of the irradiation effect with the permanganates of the alkali metals precluded the creation of incipient nuclei by the Compton recoil effect. The formation of essential sites was assumed to occur as a result of cationic displacement iollowing multiple ionization by gamma rays. (auth)
