Abstract

Objective To research the therapeutic effect of fast-track surgery in combination with laparoscopic operation for the treatment of colorectal cancer in elderly patients. Methods 124 elderly patients with colorectal cancer were randomly divided into laparoscopic operation group and open surgery group.Under the perioperative surgical care along physiological care principles of fast-track surgery, the patients underwent perioperative treatment.Perioperative stress response degree, nutritional status changes, surgical index and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results The level of pre-albumin(PA)in the laparoscopic group was superior to that in the open group on postoperative day 1〔(21.26±4.47)mg/dl vs.(17.21±5.52)〕mg/dl, t=3.563, P<0.05). The operation time was significantly longer in laparoscopic group than in open group〔(225.6±79.8)mins vs.(178.1±55.6)mins, t=3.901, P<0.01)〕. The length of the postoperative hospital stay was significantly shorter in the laparoscopic group than in open group〔(9.4±2.3)days vs.(12.6±4.9)days, t=-1.69, P<0.05〕. There were no significant differences in the incidence of complications and mortality between the two groups. Conclusions Under the perioperative surgical care along physiological care principles of fast-track surgery, laparoscopic operation versus open surgery for colorectal cancer in elderly patients shows that postoperative nutritional status was less injured, the length of postoperative hospital stay is shorter, the safety is the same, although duration of operation is longer.
