Abstract

SUMMARY.— After a brief review of the anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties of E-ACA, the therapeutic results of E-ACA in atopic dermatitis, anetoderma of Jadassohn and cold urticaria are reported. Among 21 patients with atopic dermatitis, 2 failed to return, 2 discontinued treatment on account of nausea, 9 responded favourably, and 5 showed only a fair response. Two patients showed no improvement. Eleven patients, with chronic atopic dermatitis, under corticosteroid therapy, were weaned off corticosteroids and treated with E-ACA and gave a favourable response. A patient with anetoderma showed complete remission of the disease 4 years after discontinuing therapy. The patient with cold urticaria was relieved to such a degree during therapy that, during freezing temperature, outdoor life was tolerable.
